Shopping on a budget is not always easy so here are a few tips to help you save money on your next grocery store trip!
- Always plan your meals and snacks ahead of time
- When you know what you are making for the week, you will buy exactly what you need and there will be no food waste at the end of the week.
- Write a grocery list
- Writing a grocery list will help you buy all the ingredients you need for your meals and snacks so you don’t buy unnecessary things.
- Set a budget for every week
- Setting a budget helps you stay on track with your spendings.
- Check for specials and shop around
- Every supermarket has different specials every week. This means sometimes you will have to go to 3 different supermarkets to get the best price. Even though this is time consuming, I constantly do this and save a lot of money.
- Shop locally and in season
- Produce is cheaper when it is in season. You can also find great prices at local farms or farmer’s market.
- Buy in bulk
- Shop at wholesale stores like Costco or Sam’s Club. It may seem more expensive but you have to invest the money to see the actual savings. You can always split the membership costs with a friend or family member.
- Use coupons
- You can get coupons in your Sunday newspapers, at the grocery store, or you can even email your favorite companies and ask!
